Bong Bong Cycles are proud to introduce Malvern Star as a welcome addition to our bicycle range.
Malvern Star, the home-grown Australian icon, was created in 1902 by Tom Finnigan in Glenferrie Road, Malvern, a leafy inner east suburb of Melbourne, Australia. From its early beginnings Malvern Star set out to delivering a range of bicycles built to the highest standards for all Australians.
Malvern Star has created its own history with the first ever Australian Team to ride the Tour de France in 1928. Sir Hubert Opperman headed this team and, did so aboard a Malvern Star, and later went on to win the famous Paris-Brest-Paris race 1931. In doing so, "Oppy" set a new record time for the event.
Years later at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics the Australian Team Pursuit, aboard what were considered 'standard bicycles', beat the much favoured USA Team riding the latest in bicycle technology, carbon fibre.
Today, the Malvern Star brand represents the bike that all of us once had but also the brand that designs bikes for Australian riders in Australian conditions. We’ve done this together with Phil Anderson, the first Australian to wear the yellow jersey at the Tour de France, and proud ambassador of Malvern Star.
Malvern Star is now owned by Pacific Brands, Australia's leading distributor of bicycles, parts & accessories. The same ideals that Tom Finnigan used to shape Malvern Star more than 100 years ago, that is, to build bicycles with the ideal balance of performance, style and comfort, are still deeply embedded in the brand today.

We design and make bicycles, for use for both travel and as a daily means of getting around. Our origins trace back to Sydney in the 1970s.
If the design purpose of these bikes was only "getting around" and not travel, then we would not have addressed the aspects of comfort, durability, longevity and serviceability nearly as much as we have. Anyway, these are great bike attributes for most of us, who, even if annual tourers, mostly are everyday urban cyclists. It is inconvenient to get punctures and have parts wear out, whether you are commuting or touring. You just want your bike to be comfortable, practical, easy to control, and to work 24/7. The features we emphasise are especially relevant to bikes that are used a lot, such as when it is the prime means of transport.
In addition to making bikes, we are advocates of travel on bikes. Travelling on a bike is an amazing experience. In this "virtual" age, your experience is real. You are out there waving to farmers who are waving back. You are smelling the pine trees in mountain passes, and seeing the sun's glint on the breaking surf. An eagle, circling up high, watches you. A horse in a paddock runs along side you.
You are so independent and free. Do a bit more every year and over a lifetime you stay fit and strong. You really do see the world. And you make memories you will cherish forever.

Inspired by French bicycle design of the 50’s and 60’s we have created a bicycle that preserves the simple elegance, and pure form of that golden era but has all the benefits of modern comfort and reliability. LINUS is the utilitarian, city bike… simple and reliable but with a personality and style that makes you feel like you’re in an old French movie… you’re floating a little from the wine you drank at lunch… maybe instead of going back to the office you’ll take a nap under a tree, go for a swim in the sea or drop by your lover’s house…
In most urban cultures bicycles are viewed as legitimate transportation and not merely recreation, but sadly this idea never really caught on in the US. We take numerous little journeys, under 5 miles, as part of our everyday life…. to the store, the pub, to work, etc. Besides the obvious joy of riding a bicycle, these small bicycle trips reduce carbon emissions, congestion, noise pollution, and make for a happier, city experience.
That’s LINUS… a simple, affordable, elegant bike for riding around and doing stuff.

The Electric Bicycle Co (TEBCO) was incorporated in 1995 and imported the first ‘commercial shipment’ of electric bicycles to Australia in March 1996.
Since that time, TEBCO has maintained its position as the No.1 manufacturer, importer, distributor and retailer of electric bicycles and tricycles in Australia. Indeed since our first import shipment we have seen many entities attempt to duplicate what we do – most have gone out of business within months leaving literally thousands of dissatisfied customers with product that cannot be ‘backed-up’ or ‘serviced’.
Indeed the major aspect of the operations of TEBCO that sets it apart from ALL other importers / distributors of electric bicycles is that TEBCO actually builds its OWN bicycles in China – that’s right we build ALL our bicycles from the ground up in two Chinese factories – one in Tianjin and the other in Nanjing, China.
We have our frames manufactured under license in some of China’s most reputable frame building factories, we select and source EVERY mechanical and electrical component required to complete construction ourselves, and we have our bicycles and tricycles assembled under contract to OUR specifications.
The end result is a TOTALLY UNIQUE range of Electric Bicycles and Tricycles that are designed EXCLUSIVELY for the Australian market – when you buy an Electric Bicycle or Tricycle from TEBCO you know you are buying a product that has been designed and built for the application that YOU want to use it – not just some second rate product designed for the Chinese market and which our competitors source and offer for sale.ALL our Electric Bicycles and Tricycles are EXCLUSIVELY our OWN products – you cannot buy these products anywhere else in the world.

Bike components are all we do - which is why we do them so mind-bendingly well. SRAM Corporation began with the goal of creating the absolute best shifting system and changed the cycling world forever with the introduction of Grip Shift. To support the innovation, we invested in Sachs Bicycle Company and built a state of the art manufacturing facility in Schweinfurt Germany. We had the vision and desire to expand our presence in the industry so we found the best suspension company, RockShox, joined forces with them, creating huge excitement in the global cycling community. Not content to stop there, we knew expanding our line with the best brakes, bottom brackets and cranksets would fine-tune the ride even more. So we teamed up with Avid and Truvativ.
Now that we have achieved total drive train nirvana, we will continue to seek and deploy technological and engineering advancements, as we compulsively refine and redefine the pinnacle of the ultimate ride.

Since then, athletes from an ever-growing list of sports and activities use CamelBak hydration systems for their convenience and performance benefits.
In addition to cycling, CamelBak has Hands-Free Hydration systems for hiking, running, snowboarding and skiing. CamelBak's state-of-the-art packs and hydration systems have benefited athletes, outdoorsmen, and soldiers around the world.

Thule - Based in Sweden we are today a truly global company. In 1942, Thule was founded by the Thulin family, when Erik Thulin, a true lover of the outdoors, put the Thule name on a Pike Trap that he designed and began to sell to the fisherman of Scandinavia. It wasn’t long before he added other practical things to his company’s portfolio. Business boomed, gaining profitably year after year.
By the 1960s, the company began to concentrate its business on car-related products, and before long the first roof rack was born. New product categories were added in the 70’s and new markets all over the world (e.g. US, Japan) were opened.
The Thulin family sold Thule to the publicly listed company Eldon in 1979, and it continued to grow both organically and through acquisitions (trailers and rooftop box manufacturing) and ever since, Thule has been in a growth mode. New markets have been opened, product categories have been launched and several companies have joined the Thule Group in the last 10 years strengthening the position of the Thule Group as world leader in providing transport solutions for an active life.
Zefal - The roots of the Zéfal Company go back to the end the 19th century and the birth of the velocipede.
It is 1880, company Poutrait-Morin (which one century later would become ZEFAL) starts to manufacture bicycle accessories. Goods include foot rests, brake calipers, lantern holders. Later with the invention of the tube, Poutrait-Morin would develop the Presta valve (also known as the Sclaverand valve or French valve) and manufacture bicycle pumps.
In the 1950’s Aluminium pumps are launched and take rapidly the first place of the market due to their sturdiness and lightness.
From that time, many patents have been registered to ameliorate the efficiency, the ease and the comfort of the pumping.
Almost one century later, during 1972, Zéfal invents the direct-on connection with thumb lock lever and the reversibility of the washer to adapt to all types of valves.
In the 80’s Zéfal is the largest pumps manufacturer of the world with more than 10 million pumps per year. At that time, Zéfal starts to widen its offer by launching innovative ranges of bottles, bottle holders, racks and mudguards.
Worldwide partnerships increase and Zéfal becomes represented in more than 100 countries.
In the 90’s with the MTB boom, Zéfal continues to diversify by launching new ranges of maintenance and repairing products, mirrors and bags.
Today, Zefal main focus remains innovation. In 2008, Zefal launched a patented keyless locking system for wheels and saddle for which it has received the Gold Award in 2008 Eurobike show.
Est.1866. Over almost a century and a half, Brooks England has grown from a small workshop to a byword in quality craftsmanship. Back in 1865, John Boultbee Brooks left his hometown of Hinckley in Leicestershire with just £20 in his pocket.
He headed for Birmingham, where in 1866 he established a business in horse harnesses and general leather goods in Great Charles Street under the name JB Brooks & Co.In 1878, the unfortunate death of Mr Brooks’ horse led to a stroke of inspiration. Unable to afford another horse, he borrowed a bicycle in order to commute to work. But he found the seat so uncomfortable that he vowed to do something about it. On 28 October 1882, Mr Brooks filed his first saddle patent.
Waddling cyclists everywhere threw their hats in the air and the new product was a roaring success. The company became known and respected for its beautiful leather handcrafted saddles, and soon started to make cycle and motorcycle bags and other accessories.
Traditional techniques in manufacturing leather saddles were passed down from generation to generation of craftsmen as the company grew under the guidance of the Brooks family until 1958.
In 1962 Brooks became part of Raleigh and moved to the current works in Smethwick in the West Midlands, just a few miles away from the original premises.
In the last decade, we have struck out on our own again as Brooks England, following a new course that honours the company’s heritage. Inspired by the timeless products designed by our predecessors, we have revived the original slogan ‘Saddles, Bags, Etc’ and introduced a range of cycle bags and other accessories.
Brooks England is steeped in history, a prestige brand that boasts almost 150 years of tradition and expertise. But quality and style never age. So come on in and take a seat.
BORN IN 1996. Handmade in Italy
The Fi'zi:k brand was born in 1996 - a high-end bicycle saddle line, designed and handmade in Italy by the world's largest saddle manufacturer. Fi'zi:k is the phonetic spelling of the word "physique" - referring to the form or state of the human body. Often associated with general fitness and athletics, the word is also used in many contexts to illustrate physical strength and superb health. Fizik have three saddle shapes; there is the dipped platform found on the Gobi and Aliante range.
The second is their flat style found on the Arione and Pave range. The third is the new Antares which sits between the previous two shapes. Dipped platform saddles give a supported riding position and 'cup' the pelvic bone, these are ideal for riders who tend to remain in one position on the saddle. Flat saddles allow the rider to move forward and backwards on the saddle and are ideal for distance riders on varying terrain. The Antares range bridges the gap between dipped and flat saddles, offering 300% more padding and a 15% larger sitting area when compared to their competitors saddles. Whilst still maintaining a low weight from as little as 145g, there has been no sacrifice to construction or rider comfort. For 2009 Carlos Sastre, of Cervelo Test Team and 2008 Tour De France champion, has made this his saddle of choice.
Fizik produce saddles in varying lengths to suit riders needs, Arione are longer in length at over 300mm with an increased nose length. The Pave, Antares and Aliante ranges are a more traditional length at under 290mm. Triathletes, Time Trialists and women are specifically catered for with the Vitesse range. Within this range there is the Tri/TT specific range which incorporates increased padding in the nose of the saddle for extended periods on the tri-bars and the Ladies Life Vitesse which is specifically shaped for the female form.
Fi'zi:k is a racing brand. It represents beauty, speed, passion, freedom for those who race against each other, race against the clock and for enthusiast cyclists around the world who identify with the feeling of the fire of competition.

But we are not standing still: Park Tool Co. continues to develop and refine bicycle repair tools and equipment to improve the service and efficiency of all bicycle mechanics, professional or hobbyist. We will continue to be an active part in the advancement of the sport of bicycling.
The SUGOI Story
For years, hard-core endurance athletes have known SUGOI as making the most incredible, and incredibly hard-working, apparel in endurance sports.
In fact, "incredible" is exactly what SUGOI means in Japanese. For over 20 years, we've been working diligently to make sure we live up to our name.
SUGOI's journey began when bicycle racer David Hollands, and Carol Prantner, a fashion student, founded the company in 1987. The upstart originated as a basement operation in the outdoor playground of Vancouver, British Columbia. The initial product merely consisted of bike shorts, made to address the short supply of genuine technical cycling apparel, which all came from Japan or Europe at the time. These humble shorts contained the genesis of the original SUGOI ethic of innovation and excellence and soon enough, other competitors wanted the shorts too. SUGOI quickly earned an almost cult-following among athletes seeking the best performing, best-looking apparel available.
Twenty years hasn't changed our relentless focus on making workouts a great experience, but the company has certainly changed. Today, SUGOI has more than 250 employees. Our expansive catalogs now offer hundreds of technical garments and accessories, including underlayers, jackets, shorts, swimsuits, socks, and hats. With distribution throughout North America, Europe, and Asia, SUGOI is truly an international brand.

Tom Ritchey is one-of-a-kind. He continues to juggle his duties as president and lead designer of our company, now distributed in over 40 countries, while still logging 10,000 miles a year all over the world. His latest passion is Project Rwanda, which strives to further economic development in Rwanda through initiatives based on the bicycle. Inspiration often comes to him while out on a ride, generating ideas that he then processes as three-dimensional design images – in his head. This is followed by the creation of initial concept models, many of which he creates by fillet brazing pieces or scraps of frame tubing. It all comes naturally to a guy who taught himself to build frames as a teenager, and who designed some of the burgeoning mountain bike industry’s first frames and components back in the 1970’s. Every year Tom guides our R&D efforts in pursuit of both subtle improvements to existing products, or large-scale advances leading to new ones.

Minoura - was found in 1933 as the bicycle luggage rack and kickstand manufacturer.
In 1985, we developed the world-first bicycle maintenance stand "W-1". And in 1989, we developed the world-first magnetic type indoor bicycle trainer "Magturbo".
Both categories were yet only for the professional people at that time, and they were not available for consumers. We didn't just copy the existing product but we developed them by ourselves to open the door for consumers to make the bike life more enjoyable.
Since then, we have been expanding the range from small accessory to large staff by our own development power. Cooper Bikes - the bicycle division of Cooper Car Company, launched their new range of bikes at the Earls Court Cycle Show on the 8th October 2009.
